In compliance with the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa last night, all plans to send boys to.the bush must come to an end immediately. So said the acting Chairperson of the EC House of Traditional Leaders Nkosi Langa Mavuso who also serves as the Chairperson of the Provincial Initiation Coordinating Committee (PICC) on ulwaluko. The country has now moved to Alert level 4 to stem the spread of the 3rd wave of Covid 19.
Nkosi Mavuso added that for abakhwetha who are yet to graduate, parents must ensure that there are no imigidi. “Parents are expected just compliy with Section 19 of the Disaster Management Regulations without fail or resistance. Imigidi can be organized at a later stage when the current conditions necessitated by the Covid 19 pandemic have improved,” said Nkosi Mavuso.
Cogta MEC Xolile Nqatha welcomed the presidential announcement and called for all stakeholders involved in the practice of ulwaluko to cooperate. “The 3rd wave is raging and we must all work together to ensure no mushrooming of new amabhuma in our areas. Our law enforcement agencies stand ready to deal with any deviations to the regulations including closing down illegal amabhuma, ” said MEC Nqatha.  //end//
