Eastern Cape COGTA MEC Hon. Xolile Nqatha has expelled Buffalo City Metro Municipality Councillor Ntombizodwa Gamnca with immediate effect for violating Municipal Systems Act
Councillor Gamnca has been expelled for the following allegations:
- Her involvement in the sale of immovable property
- Conviction of criminal offense.
Ms Gamnca has been removed from office for violating Item 2 (b) of schedule 1 of the Code of Conduct for Councillors of the Municipal Systems Act (MSA) which states that “A Councillor must at all times act in the best interest of the municipality and in such a way that credibility and integrity of the municipality are not compromised”.
Ms Gamnca has been removed from office in terms of 14 (6)(b) of the Code of Conduct.
“The MEC, in line with the principles of natural justice has afforded former Councillor Ms Ntombizodwa Gamnca an extended period to make representation, after considering her representation the MEC has decided to remove her from office,” said MEC Nqatha.
The honorable speaker of Buffalo City metro municipality has been informed about the expulsion of Councillor Gamnca.
