Eastern Cape Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Hon. Xolile Nqatha has been invited to attend the homecoming ceremony of 25 initiates at Kubusi Village in Qumbu. (Ukuhlanjwa kwamakhwenkwe abuya esuthwini hayi umgidi)

Under the new COVID 19 regulations families are prohibited from hosting Imigidi (Traditional Homecoming celebrations/ festivities until further notice.)

The 25 initiates are part of the last batch of the 105 initiates who underwent the ritual during this summer season at ward 20 in Qumbu.  All the 105 initiates have complied with the COVID -19 regulations and their homecoming ceremony (ukuhlanjwa) will be conducted under strict COVID -19 regulations.

“This is a shining example of what we have been constantly saying about Ulwaluko that the ritual does not kill if conducted correctly and we are delighted that Baye phila Babuya bephila”, said MEC Nqatha.
